OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2007. A further main aim of the research is to ensure faster traffic by introducing high-speed trains and the necessary infrastructure for speeds of between 300-350 kph on selected routes, as well as by creating a system of technical servicing for the infrastructure and rolling stock.

Research in logistics will be aimed at creating a network of logistics centers, modernising the terminal infrastructure, introducing new technology to process shipping documents, introducing positioning and automatic freight monitoring systems and establishing urban-suburban passenger services at major transport hubs.

Other research areas will include passenger rolling stock, in particular, double-decker coaches, the production of coach chassis using composite materials and establishing inter-regional electric trains with asynchronous power capable of traveling at up to 160 kph.
