OREANDA-NEWS. October 16, 2007. The pilot Russian freight DC locomotive designated 2ES4K Donchak manufactured by the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NEVZ) was sent to Kartali depot (South-Ural Railway) for a 5,000 km exploitation run on October 9, 2007.

The run will be performed on an operational track under real-life exploitation conditions. The electric locomotive will be leading heavy trains.

The exploitation run follows a successful set of factory, stationary and dynamic tests at the Belorechenskaya depot of the North-Caucasian Railway.

The microprocessor control system, ventilation system, electric equipment, auxiliary mechanisms have been tested and adjusted. The electric locomotive high-speed as well as track load tests were performed.

The previous Donchak test stages were successfully complete proving the locomotive high effectiveness and compliance with technical and exploitation requirements. The exploitation run is to be followed by acceptance and certificate tests resulting in a decision for the locomotive series production.
