OREANDA-NEWS. In Jan-Sept 2007 the electricity production in Russia grew by 1.3% as against Jan-Sept 2006. During the period the power plants of Russia produced 731bln KWh, reported the press-centre of Rosatom. 

The Federal Statistical Service of Russia (RosStat) reports that nuclear power plants produced 117bln KWh (1,4% more than a year before), thermal power plants – 474bln KWh (-0,5%), water power plants – 140bln KWh (+7,7%).

In Sept 2007 the electricity production grew by 4,2% as against Sept 2006.

RosStat also reports that in Jan-Sept 2007 Russia mined 225mln tons of coal – 0,6% more than a year before. In Sept 2007 as against Sept 2006 this index grew by 1,9%.

To remind, according to RosStat, in 2006 the electricity production in Russia grew by 4% as against 2005 and totaled 991bln KWh. In 2006 Russia mined 309mln tons of coal – 3,6% more than in 2005. Meanwhile, the Energy and Industry Ministry of Russia reported 991,42bln KWh and 309,18mln tons, respectively, for the period. The Ministry forecasts that in 2007 the country will produce 1,039trl KWh of electricity (4,8% more than in 2006) and will mine 315mln tons of coal (+1,9%).
