OREANDA-NEWS. Astana hosted the 3rd sitting of the Kazakh-Chinese subcommittee for transport cooperation within the Kazakh-Chinese Committee for Interaction in the Realm of Automobile Transport, Automobile Roads and Civil Aviation, reported the Official website http://en.government.kz.

The sitting was chaired by Mr. Zhenis Kasymbek, Kazakh Vice Minister for Transport and Communications. The Chinese delegation was headed by Feng Zhenglin, Vice Minister of Communications.

At the present time, the two sides feel the need for new cargo-and-passenger routes. Should there be principle agreement reached on launching of new cargo-and-passenger routes, the sides will study the transportation needs and the current state of the roads.

In the course of the sitting the Kazakh side informed the Chinese delegation of a new lane to be shortly opened so that there would be no congestions of vehicles at the Khorgos border point. Work is under way to amend the customs legislation with the purpose of abolishing the compulsory filing of export specification original.

Extra 5 thousand permits will be issued by the end of the year to facilitate smooth transportation of freights between the two countries.

Having studied the measures taken by the Kazakh side to shape the West Europe - West China corridor, the Chinese side expressed intention to have Chinese companies involved in construction of automobile roads in Kazakhstan, including the West Europe - West China corridor. The sides have agreed to take joint measures to press the issue of constructing this corridor and to consider the related issues at the nearest Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit at the level of transport ministers.

In the realm of civil aviation the sides have agreed to keep coordinating launch of new air corridors by duly authorized bodies of the two states.

The 4th sitting of the Kazakh-Chinese Subcommittee for Transport Cooperation has been scheduled to be held in 2008 in Hainan.
