OREANDA-NEWS. Representatives of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) took part in International Workshop on "Measuring the Economic Effects of Competition Law Enforcement" organized by the Netherlands Competition Authority which was held in the Hague, the Netherlands, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Representatives of competition authorities of Italy, Spain, the Great Britain as well as experts from the European Commission and the US Department of Justice participated in this event.

Recently the great attention has been paid to the issues of measuring the economic effects of competition authorities' activity. During the workshop the representatives of European competition agencies presented technical and economical aspects of the methods of measuring the effects of competition authorities' activity as well as accumulated experience of foreign competition agencies in this sphere. This issue is of high priority for FAS Russia in view of transition to estimation system of agencies activity based on the final results.

During the workshop the following topics were covered: "Economic effects of competition law: cost-benefit analysis from a policy perspective", "Measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of competition enforcement", "The assessment of the impact of antitrust intervention at the Italian Competition Authority", "The economic impact of Competition Law enforcement: the case of The Netherlands", "Quantification of cartel damages: an economic framework and empirical methods".
