OREANDA-NEWS. In January-September 2007, throughput of Ust-Luga port (Leningrad region) 5.25 million tonnes (2-fold growth), regional government reports according to news agency Regnum. The main share of export in the port of Ust-Luga falls on coal. The company’s terminal Rosterminalugol handled 4.7 million tonnes of cargo. Multipurpose transshipment complex, which started operation in June 2007, handled 140,000 tonnes of wrought iron. As of today, there are several terminals operating in the port of Ust-Luga - coal terminal, timber terminal, multipurpose transshipment complex and railway-ferry service Ust-Luga – Kaliningrad regions - Geramny. The container terminal is currently under construction. In 2006, throughput of the port of Ust-Luga totaled 4.5 million tonnes. The forecastfor 2007 - 7-8 million tonnes. By 2010, it is planned to handle 40 million tonnes per year.
