OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2007. Investment & Pensions Europe, an influential investment and pension management magazine in Europe, has once again published the regular list of the nominees for the distinction award among people, who made a significant contribution to pension system development in a particular country, reported the press-centre of Parex.

The award ceremony will take place on November 15, 2007 in Vienna. Event organizers have already finalized the list of 10 nominees out of candidates from European Union countries. Juris Punculs, Vice President of Parex Open Pension Fund has the honour to be included in this list. Mr. Punculs' 10-year experience in the field of private pension funds' development in Latvia had been apprised with a nomination “Juris Punculs' input in the development of Latvian pensions system”.

Notably, this is the second time only in the history of the award, when a Latvian representative of the field has been nominated. The first nomination was received in 2001, when Head of Private Pensions Fund Committee at the Association of Latvian Commercial Banks and Executive Director of SC Lattelekom Closed Pensions Fund Rudite Zvirgzdina was nominated.

Juris Punculs: born in 1954 in Riga. Has three degrees – in pedagogy, state administration and law. Mr. Punculs has been working in the banking sector since 1990. In December 1997 joined the field of private pension fund management. From 2000 to 2001 was the Chairman of the Private Pensions Fund Committee at the Association of Latvian Commercial Banks. An author of the only book in Latvian language about pension system – Private pension funds in Latvia (1999). Participated in a number of international conferences, reporting on the advantages of Latvian pensions system.
