OREANDA-NEWS. Representative of the Commission de regulation de l’energie (CDE, France) Jacques-Andre Troesch visited Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine, reported the press-centre of AECC.

Troesch visited AECC’s Training Center. The managers of the plant told him about the history of AECC, its personnel, products and role in the nuclear power industry of Russia.

Troesch said that today it is important not only to build nuclear power plants but also to ensure stable fuel supplies. This is a problem of international importance. Presently, a number of European states are beginning to revive their nuclear power industries and are starting new NPP projects. The UK and Switzerland are planning to build new NPPs, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia are actively developing their nuclear power industries so as to no longer depend on oil, coal or gas. Developed nuclear power industry is not just independence from external suppliers; it is also stable electricity prices.

Troesch was also interested in the activities of the international uranium enrichment center, a project launched on the basis of AECC, and the prospects of Russian-French nuclear energy cooperation.

Troesch visited the Information Center of Rosatom and saw the model of a centrifuge. He also went to the renewed AECC Museum and learned how the plant was formed, how it was developed and modernized, who it is proud of. Troesch was surprised to learn that the share of AECC in the total radioactive emission in Angarsk is less than 0.1%. “This is very important in terms of PR. This proves that nuclear power industry is friendly to the environment,” Troesch said.

Troesch pointed out that the AECC Museum reflects Russia’s historical will to use nuclear energy for the benefit of all nations. The French guest also met with the director general of AECC Viktor Shopen and visited the plant’s production area.
