OREANDA-NEWS. A commission of the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Control (Rostekhnadzor) was inspected Kola Nuclear Power Plant so as to check up the nuclear and radiation safety systems of the plant’s four units. The inspection covers as many as 11 problems: the last time such a large-scale inspection was conducted at Kola NPP in 2003, reported the press-centre of Kola NPP.

The commission comprises representatives of Don and Volga inter-regional territorial units and Scientific-Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (Moscow). The chairman of the commission is the deputy head of the Department for NPP Safety Control.

The experts will check up what the plant does to ensure the nuclear and radiation safety of its units, how its treats radioactive waste, how it repairs and upgrades its units and trains its personnel, if the plant is ready for emergencies and how effectively it records and controls it nuclear materials.
