OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2007. In late October – early November the Volgograd Small Diameter Pipe Plant will launch a new mill for production of round and shaped tubes from cold-rolled and stainless steel for consumers in the building, electro-technical and furniture industries. The Italian SYTCO is the supplier of the mill. The annual mill capacity is approximately 15 thousand tons of tubes of 10-63.5 mm in diameter, and the section 15x15 – 50x50 mm for square tubes and 20x10 – 60x40 mm for rectangular tubes.

Besides, approximately at the same time the enterprise is to start production of large-size shaped tubes - 100x100 mm and 120x80 mm, and in the future 100x50  and 150x100 mm. Equipment for their production is already ordered, and the company expects its delivery in the near term. At present the top production size for shaped tubes is 80x80 mm.

In September VSDPP produced about 7,000 thousand tons of tubes (+6 % to the August level). At the same time production of shaped tubes has dropped 14%, to 2,000 t. As the company says, the reason for this is underdelivery of metal roll with the wall thickness of 1.5-2 mm  which is the most sought –after metal in production of small size shaped tubes. The enterprise has experienced this problem for a few months already, and it prevented it from fulfilling its plans in production of shaped tubes – about 4,000 t, such plans connected with the dynamically growing demand for this product.

In October the company plans to boost the production volume to 8,000 t of tubes. The plans can be reduced to 7,000 t and less, given metal roll is underdelivered. Over the 9 months of the current year the output reached over 58,000 t of tubes (+11% year on year). Notably, the general increase of output was influenced by the growth in output of shaped tubes – about 15,000 t, which is a three time increase year on year.
