OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2007. A new manufacturing facility of traction equipment for electric transport was opened at the enterprise Power Machines - "Rheostat" factory (town of Velikie Luki).

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor of Pskov region A.E. Saprykin, Mayor of Velikie Luki L.G. Golubeva, General Director of the OJSC Power Machines B.F. Vaynzikher, partners of the company and other officials.

Basic products of the new industrial complex will be electric traction equipment for suburban electric trains, underground trains and other means of electric transport, as well as for mine dump trucks and excavators.

Total amount of investments into the project has made 400 million roubles. Opening of this production platform will increase the amount of workplaces at the enterprise by 20 %. Today the number of personnel makes 780 employees.

Creation of the new manufacture has become a part of the plan for development of industrial platforms of the enterprises of the OJSC Power Machines. The investment project envisages transferring from "Elektrosila" branch (Saint-Petersburg) to "Rheostat" factory of the equipment and know-how to produce electric traction equipment, transfer of the design documentation and also training of the enterprise personnel.

Within the framework of this project, a complex of capital works necessary for transferring of manufacture and construction of a new industrial building, reconstruction of existing workshop, general construction works to improve the enterprise infrastructure, construction of an industrial warehouse and other works have been carried out at "Rheostat" factory.

Opening of the new manufacturing facility in Velikie Luki has been one of the largest industrial projects in Pskov region lately. Concentration of production on the basis of "Rheostat" factory will enable to adjust a systemized supply of complete sets of electric drives for transport industry and will become a serious competitive advantage of the company. At the same time, realization of this project will enable Power Machines to concentrate the manufacture of equipment for electric power industry at its "Elektrosila" branch.
