OREANDA-NEWS. November 1, 2007. “Caspian Pride” replenishment ship built at “Brewick”, Norwegian shipbuilding plant has been brought to Azerbaijan. The ship anchored at Baku Seaport on October 31. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, the representatives of foreign oil companies in Azerbaijan, journalists and public representatives attended the opening ceremony. Rovnag Abdullayev checked the cabins of the ship and got acquainted with the engineering factors of the ship.

The officers of Caspian Oil Fleet-BUE Caspian Alliance and the captain gave SOCAR President comprehensive information about “Caspian Pride”. “Caspian Pride” was purchased in accordance with the long-term contract won by Caspian Oil Fleet-BUE Caspian Alliance as a result of international tender offered by BP-Azerbaijan. From now on the vessel will complement service to the “Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli”, “Shahdaniz” and other fields within 10 years. “Caspian Pride” is the eighth vessel delivered to the Caspian Sea by BUE Caspian Alliance.

Since 2002 the Alliance has brought 2 rescue ships, 2 tow ships powered by 1,500hp engine, and 4 replenishment ships including Caspian Pride. All ships have modern equipments and meet universal standards, as well as the requirements of Oil Company. In addition, Caspian Oil Fleet-BUE Caspian Alliance is planning to bring 2 more vessels to Azerbaijan in 2008. High seed passenger-supply ship built at “Damen” plant of Netherlands will be delivered in May. Another “Caspian Pride” type replenishment ship built at “Simec” plant of Norway will be delivered in July. It should be mentioned that in the beginning, Caspian Oil Fleet-BUE Caspian Alliance was serving AIOC by using the ships within SOCAR. At present, the Alliance is actively participating in the projects implemented together with foreign companies. Along with new ships, it also exploits 8 ships within SOCAR.
