OREANDA-NEWS. The Japanese Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) is looking into the possibility of financing the electricity projects of Ukrainian GenCos, Alfa Capital Ukraine informs. NAK ECU, the state electricity holding company, has outlined for the JBIC a few top priority projects in the Ukrainian generation sector, which are targeted for completion by 2012.

These projects include reconstruction of electricity blocks #7 and #9 at Zakhidenergo’s Burshtyn thermal power plant (TPP) as well as reequipment of the plant to increase its export capacity. Also discussed were modernization plans for Donbasenergo’s Starobesheve and Slovyansk TPPs and reconstruction projects in Centrenergo’s Zmiyiv and Trypillya plants. GenCos will be fully responsibility for the successful completion of these projects and bear all credit risk. All loan redemptions will be financed through mark-ups to the wholesale electricity price.
