OREANDA-NEWS. Rosneft's RAS 3Q 2007 net income rose versus a similar period of the prior year by 3.2 times, now making 53..05 bn RUR, the Veles Capital research department reports with reference to the company. With regard to the second quarter of 2007, the net income rose 2.6 times.

The previous message stated that net income of company for 3Q 2007 has formed 16.36 bn RUR. The message of the company indicates that the reason for the income growth over the third quarter was "positive currency exchange gain on attracted credits and calculation of income tax of 2Q 2007, added during covering of YUKOS' debts". Net income of Rosneft for 9 months 2007 now formed 91.33 bn RUR, a 19.6% rise above the similar period's level of 2006. In general, these results of company comply with trends and events occurring in early 2007, such as sale of YUKOS' assets, in particular, allowing the company to perform better than over 9 months of 2006. Veles Capital's analysts regard the RAS report as not being very representative for oil & gas holdings in general.
