OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2007. The majority of Latvian entrepreneurs support the idea of making next year’s budget either without deficit or with surplus. Inter alia, nearly 46,3% of entrepreneurs are for the budget without deficit, and 25,2% support the surplus in budget, as shown in the results of the regular entrepreneurs’ business activity survey Parex index for the third quarter of this year, reported the press-centre of Parex.

Only 14,3% out of all the surveyed respondents have expressed support for the state budget with deficit, whereas almost the same number of respondents (14,2%) refrained from commenting the next year’s state budget.

Entrepreneurs from Riga’s suburbs and Zemgale region have expressed most support (56,9% and 55,1% accordingly) for the budget without deficit. Also, entrepreneurs in regional centres (53%) and Kurzeme (51,7%) support the “no-deficit” budget, as well as entrepreneurs in the service industry (51%) and construction (50,9%).

In turn, budget with deficit is least supported in Riga suburbs (9,7%), Zemgale (10,2%), Kurzeme (10,3%), as well as the service sector (11,4%).

Strong contradictions have been found out amongst the entrepreneurs, who employ over 250 employees. 39,1% of entrepreneurs from this group have expressed very strong support for budget surplus, and 26,1% - on the contrary, support for budget deficit. Moreover, 30,4% of large entrepreneurs support budget without deficit. Notably, only 4,3% of the surveyed entrepreneurs in this group could not give a certain response on the matter.

Also, the budget surplus support has been monitored in enterprises with turnover of over 1 million LVL (36%), enterprises from Vidzeme (33,8%) and production sector enterprises (32%).
