OREANDA-NEWS. From 7 to 10 November this year, the city of Bangkok, Thailand, will host the International Defense Exhibition DEFENSE & SECURITY 2007, reported the press-centre of Rosoboronexport.

The DEFENSE tri-service Asian exhibition and conference on defense technologies has been held under the support of Thailand’s Ministry of Defense since 1985 and traditionally gained heightened attention from the world’s leading manufacturers and customers of weaponry and military hardware. Given increased world demand for advanced and efficient counter-terrorist facilities, the organizers of the exhibition have substantially expanded the exposition of security facilities and special weapons. That is why this year the exhibition will take place under the title DEFENSE & SECURITY 2007.

At DEFENSE & SECURITY 2007, more than 250 exhibitors from 25 countries will showcase a wide spectrum of defense products for land, naval and air forces.

Defense and dual-purpose products from the Russian defense industrial complex are traditionally presented here by the Rosoboronexport State Corporation, the organizer of the united national exposition and the single Russian authorized exporter/importer of weapons and military equipment. The Russian delegation, acting under Rosoboronexport’s aegis, comprises the leading Russian defense manufacturers like PO Uralvagonzavod Production Association, Izhmash Concern, Motovilikha Works, Splav State Research and Production Enterprise, Arzamas Machine Building Plant, Altair Naval Radio Electronics Research Institute, Proekt-Tekhnika Research and Production Enterprise, and Radiozavod Company. The Russian stands occupy approximately 200 sq. m of exhibition areas.

The Rosoborovnexport’s delegation is headed by Nikolai Mikhailovich Dimidyuk, Director-at-Large.

Given an interest shown by the countries in the region, the section of multiple rocket launchers will be comprehensive with regard to a range of the launchers and rockets for them. The exposition will include items that have proven efficiency in the armies of Russia and foreign countries: 300 mm Smerch MRL, 122 mm Grad MRL and artillery rockets with various kinds of separable warheads (HE, thermobaric, with HE/HEAT submunitions, target-sensing antitank submunitions, and reconnaissance aerial vehicles).

AK-102, AK-103 and AK-104 5.56 and 7.62 mm assault rifles and Dragunov SVD and SVDS sniper rifles will arouse traditional interest among the visitors to the exhibition. Various models of pistols, assault rifles, machine guns, portable and hand-held antitank grenade launchers as well as a variety of rounds and cartridges will be exhibited on stands.

The specialists will be surely interested in the Zoopark-1 artillery/missile reconnaissance, Kredo-1E radar able to detect moving ground targets, and Fara-1 portable surveillance and weapon guidance radar. The latter is intended for reconnaissance or protection of an assigned sector of territory, automatic detection of moving objects (people, vehicles) round-the-clock under any weather conditions, measuring the coordinates of the detected objects and their identification. The Fara-1 is currently successfully used by Russia’s law enforcement agencies and can be employed by the states in the region in counter-terrorist operations.

Rosoboronexport will demonstrate essentially the whole lineup of the world-known Russian Mil and Kamov helicopters and provide relevant information on their onboard and ground equipment, maintenance and training facilities.

The Mil helicopters will be represented by the new Mi-28NE Night Hunter all-weather attack helicopter, Mi-171Sh and Mi-17V-5 military transport helicopters, Mi-35M combat transport helicopter, and Mi-26T, the world’s heaviest cargo helicopter. The Kamov helicopters on display will include the Ka-50 single-seat attack helicopter, its tandem twin-seat derivative (Ka-50-2), Ka-31 radar picket helicopter and Ka-27PS shipborne SAR helicopter.

The naval section of the Russian exposition will present essentially the whole spectrum of combatant ships and boats varying in purpose. On display will be several tens of projects, from fast patrol craft to multi-mission frigates and destroyers displacing 9,000 tons. The states in the region may express a certain interest in high-speed patrol interception craft like  Project 14310 Mirazh, Project 12200 Sobol, and Project 12150 Mangust; Project 12322 Zubr and Project 12061-E Murena-E air-cushion landing ships and craft; Project 10412 Svetlyak and Project 11541 Korsar patrol ships and craft; Project 20382 Tiger corvette and Gepard-3.9 multi-mission frigate. The professionals will get consultations on various coastal missile and gun complexes, various items of weaponry, combat and support complexes, target surveillance, information processing and designation systems intended for deployment on various classes of ships.

The Rosoboronexport State Corporation will show for the first in the region a field hospital based on a standardized quick-detachable automobile body-container of constant and varying volumes. The design of the container-bodies, the possibility of shipment by any transportation means (including carriage on a sling by a helicopter), capability for loading and unloading from trucks without crane, and autonomous power supply meet the most stringent requirements. The Russian-made mobile field hospitals can help medical services to substantially enhance and expand their mobilization capabilities and improve medical assistance to victims and patients in complex environments during local conflicts, disasters and catastrophes.

The specialists of the Russian exhibitors are sure that Russia’s participation in the armaments forum in Bangkok will open new opportunities for cooperation with the Southeast Asian countries.

Nikolai Dimidyuk, head of Rosoboronexport’s delegation, expressed his opinion: “We’re ready for fruitful and intense work at DEFENSE & SECURITY 2007. Rosoboronexport plans to conduct meetings and negotiations with the representatives of the Defense Ministries and procurement organizations of the Southeast Asian countries, our partners in long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation. We hope that our future agreements will substantially expand cooperation experience with the countries in the Southeast Asian and Asian Pacific region in the field of arms deliveries. We intend to make progress also in technology implementation and offset programs. The results achieved in this area on the Indonesian and Malaysian markets are perceived quite positively in the region and favor promotion and higher competitiveness of the Russian weapon systems and a buildup of Russia’s economic presence in the region.”

Rosoboronexport State Corporation cordially invites media representatives to attend the briefing November 8, 11.00, hall №7-8, exhibition stand G17-24.
