OREANDA-NEWS. OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) announced  that engineers of IZ-KARTEKS, which is part of OMZ Mining Equipment and Technologies business unit, have created a new cab assembly for heavy mining excavators, meeting all modern requirements. The assembly is standardized for all excavator models produced by IZ-KARTEKS. The first new-generation cabin will be installed on an EKG-10 excavator intended for Olenegorsk Mining and Processing Enterprise.

According to the OMZ press service, the assembly has two levels. The first level is intended for accessory equipment, and the second level is for operator’s position and utility space. The design of the cabin has specifications which have no domestic or international analogues and represent IZ-KARTEKS' “know-how”. The working place is equipped with an up-to-date chair with a built-in control panel, designed by GRAMMER. For improved visibility, a special inclined panoramic glazing technology was used for the front screen and the side windows. The cabin assembly is equipped with a monitor which reflects mechanical diagnostic information, as well as information on the amount of earth material extracted, and the amount of energy used.

The unit includes a powerful climate control system, for cooling and heating. If used in conditions of the far north, an additional wall-mounted heater is provided, which is able to automatically maintain the cabin temperature at a pre-set level. The front screen can be heated by four direct fan heaters to prevent icing. The cabin employs a vibration isolation system which allows minimization of any damage from vibrations. The noise intensity in the cabin will not exceed 70-75 dBA which corresponds to the highest international standards.

Starting from the first quarter of 2008, all excavators produced by IZ-KARTEKS, including rack and rope excavators, will be equipped with the new up-to-date cabins.

IZ-KARTEKS is part of OMZ Mining Equipment and Technologies business unit of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group), which specializes in production of machinery and equipment for all essential tasks of open-pit mining and mineral processing including drilling machines, walking (dragline) and crawler mine excavators.
