OREANDA-NEWS. On November 06, 2007 JSC “Yarenergo” has completed the reconstruction of the 110 kW “Severnaya” substation (SS) that provides energy to 2 Central Yaroslavl areas – the Lenin and Kirov districts, reported the press-centre of JSC “IDGC of the Centre”.

During the first stage of “Severnaya” reconstruction (2004-2005) 2 new power transformers with a total capacity of  126 mva, were installed, creating additional possibilities for new consumer connections.

Apart from that the power engineers constructed 4 new sectors of open distribution units (ODU), that provide power to the main consumers. As a result  JSC “Yaarenergo” has doubled the substation capacity.

During the second, final, working period, a 110 kW open distribution unit was reconstructed: grease switches were changed to gas-insulated ones that are more reliable in the operation, new disconnecting devices with remote controls, telemecanics and automatics, increasing personnel safety, were installed. This allows to use substation reserves more effectively and increases the safety of the city power supply.

It is to be borne in mind that “Severnaya” substation, the oldest in Yaroslavl, was constructed in 1934 together with the first city TS – 1 (thermal station). Among the largest substation consumers are “Yargorelectroset”  municipal electricity board which provides the power to Yaroslavl city centre, the Tram and trolleybus company, “Yaroslavlvodokanal”, the water Board, as well as “Krasny Mayak” plant, “Severokhod” shoe factory.

The total cost of the reconstruction was 130 million roubles. The “Severnaya” Substation Reconstruction  was made possible thanks to three party programme for power grid development, including the City Government, JSC “Yarenergo” and the investors.
