Belarus is likely to double the sales of machine-building products to Irkutsk oblast in 2008, Deputy Industry Minister of Belarus Gennady Svidersky stated at a meeting of Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky and Governor of Irkutsk oblast Alexander Tishanin with businessmen of the two sides, reported the Official website www.government.by.

In particular, in 2008 Belarusian Amkodor plans to sell road-building equipment worth of $2 million, two times up over the sales in 2007. The supplies of MTZ tractors to Irkutsk oblast will almost double as well. Belarusian companies have signed contracts on the supplies of $5.6 million worth of agricultural equipment to Irkutsk oblast. Besides, Belarus is expected to increase the export of forestry equipment to the Russian oblast.

In January-September 2007 BelAZ exported its products worth of $7,4 million to the Russian region. In the future the Belarusian company intends to augment the export and set up its sales and maintenance centers there.

On November 7 Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky finished his two-day working visit to Irkutsk oblast. Earlier, businessmen of Belarus and the Russian region had held several meetings to consider issues relating to increasing the supplies of agricultural products, pedigree cattle and seeds of the Belarusian selection to Irkutsk oblast. Belarus also plans to export dairy and meat products to the oblast. The two sides have signed corresponding agreements.
