OREANDA-NEWS. On November 12, 2007 the president of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin and the head of Western Siberian Railways Alexander Tselko signed a cooperation agreement for 2008 with the governor of Omsk region Leonid Polezhaev, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

In 2008, Russian Railways plans to invest more than 1 billion roubles to develop the transport infrastructure of Omsk Region.

The implementation of the joint measures to develop rail infrastructure and to improve the quality of the region’s transport maintenance is the top priority.

For its part, Omsk Region will introduce benefits and discounts on rail travel for separate categories of the population and ensure economically viable tariffs for the supply of electricity on grids and networks belonging to Russian Railways.

Omsk region is also considering financing the reconstruction of a number of rail facilities in 2008.
