OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2007. Ukraine heat power plants intend to spend 2 bn UAH to purchase energy coal from Poland, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

Experts reason this by lack of fuel for the autumn-winter season.

Meanwhile, the Coal Industry Ministry said that despite low extraction of coal in 2007, Ukraine still has enough supplies for power plants.

According to data of the energy company of Ukraine, Ukraine lacks in 1,7 M tons of coal.

Ukrainian heat power plant will need circa 25 M. tons of coal in 2008. The Cabinet of Ministers intends to commission the State-Run Company Coal of Ukraine to supply 21 tons of coal. Other 4 to 5 M. tons will be provided by non state run companies.

Ukraine intended to extract 82 M. tons of coal in 2007.
