OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2007. As previously stated, following heavy snowfalls tree branches fell onto the wires of rural power lines causing cut-offs in the south-western districts of Bryansk region. All in all, 432 transformer substations were switched out from 11 till 13 of November, which left 146 settlements without electricity.

Accident recovery work was carried out by repair teams of JSC Bryanskenergo (included into the configuration of JSC IDGC of the Center) during the whole daylight period. 14 ER repair teams were sent out, over 120 repair personnel were involved, as well as 20 motor vehicles, and 12 units of special equipment. All available facilities were involved in damage elimination of the stricken power grid.

After the restoration of power supply in one settlement the power engineers went on to the next site. Three days of snowfall caused three days of hard work carried out by ER repair teams. Today at 8:00 a.m. the power supply for 135 settlements was finally restored. 11 underpopulated settlements have been left unaddressed. Power engineers promise to eliminate the damage by the end of the day. The main reason for switch-outs is branches and trees, falling onto the wires.
