OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2007. Administration of Sea Port of St. Petersburg (Morport OJSC) has initiated termination of negotiations with striking dockers. According to Alexander Moiseyenko, chairman of the port dockers’ committee, on November 14 the employer provided the workers with a letter containing a proposal to suspend the work of grievance committees. The representatives of trade unions, in their turn, intend to apply to the court.

As it was reported earlier, the strike started on November 13, at 08:00 a.m. (Moscow time) by the workers of First Stevedoring Company, Second Stevedoring Company and Forth Stevedoring Company of Morport OJSC under initiative of Russian Port Worker’s Trade Union. They demanded a 30-percent rise in tariffs and guaranteed wages.
