OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2007. An IAEA seminar on enhancement of NPP capacity factor is being conducted at Kola NPP Nov 13–15 2007. The seminar is part of a new series of Rosenergoatom-IAEA technical cooperation programs.

The IAEA group is led by Frantisek Hesoucky from IAEA and comprises experts from Olkiluoto NPP (Finland), Paks NPP (Hungary), the Central Office of Rosenergoatom Concern and Russian nuclear power plants. 

The Finnish and Hungarian experts are sharing their experience on how to enhance an NPP’s output and to optimize its performance. The conferees are discussing such problems as maintenance and repair of equipment, introduction of information systems for effective control of maintenance, influence of electricity prices on NPPs’ operation schedules.

International Atomic Energy Agency is an international inter-governmental organization set up for executing tasks related to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Rosenergoatom and IAEA cooperate in several directions: technical support programs, national and regional projects, off-budget programs, regular program.

As of Nov 7 2007 the capacity factor of Rosenergoatom Concern made up 76.3%. Rosenergoatom has ten nuclear power plants with 31 reactors operating at a total capacity of 23,242MW

In Oct 2007 the capacity factor of Kola NPP made up 77.49%.
