OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2007. Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant has completed construction of a polymer waste recycling site. A new modern line makes granulated polyethylene out of the waste produced when coating large diameter pipes with rust-proof materials. Investment totalled around UAH 1.1m.
The line produces 200 kg of granulated recycled polyethylene per hour recovering it from lump and film waste. The equipment is controlled by modern electronic devices, thus making the whole production process from raw material transportation to ready-made product dispatch as automated as possible.

On average, KhTZ produces monthly 25-30 tons of polyethylene waste. Its disposal was a grave problem before the line was installed. Some types of waste e.g. polyethylene dust with fraction of 850 micron and waste sacks used to accumulate due to no sufficient demand. Plant experts developed a process for disposal of all polyethylene waste to receive a market demanded product as well as selected and assembled required equipment.

Recycled granulated polyethylene of four grades with technical specifications of TU U 24.1-00191135-018:2007 is produced and sold to consumers

CEO of KhTZ Andrey Shishatskiy gave his comment: “A wide-ranging plant modernization meets the assets development strategy of Metinvest Group: production that meets international environment standards ensures good working conditions for employees, a high quality and this competitiveness of products. The new line launch will help us solve the problem with polyethylene waste disposal and generate extra profit. We think the line with pay back within 1-2 years”.

A group of experts from Quality Management Institute (Canada) carried out a certification audit in October 2007 and confirmed the control system at Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant meets international standards ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004, and OHSAS 18001:1999.
