OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2007. 14th annual seminar “Spectrometric Analysis: Equipment and Data Processing on PC” is being conducted at Rosatom’s Career Management Center Nov 19–23, reported the press-centre of Career Management Center.

The seminar has long become an authoritative international conference — the key scientific event of the year. The reports made during the seminar are published in scientific periodicals.

The objective of the seminar is exchange of the experience of Rosatom and other national and foreign companies in the use of spectrometric systems and comparative analysis of national products with best foreign analogues.

On the first day, the director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Applied Physics and Automation, professor N.Kuzelyov made a report on scientific and technological support of the innovative development of modern instrument engineering. The director of the Institute of Physico-Technical Problems (Dubna) Y.Tuzov and the organizer of the seminar, the head of department of the Career Management Center A.Karpenko welcomed the conferees.

Almost 130 specialists from 60 organizations as well as representatives of Russian and foreign companies producing spectrometric equipment are taking part in the seminar. They are supposed to hear and discuss over 50 reports.

The best examples of national and foreign spectrometric equipment are being displayed at an exhibition.

The seminar consists of three sections:
Nondestructive analysis
— modern national and foreign spectrometric systems for analysis of spectra produced by alpha, beta, gamma and neutron emitters
— companies’ experience of use of spectrometric systems
— analysis of nuclear materials and radioactive waste
— analysis of spectrometric information in the field of environment control
— use of spectrometric systems at nuclear power plants and research reactors
— radiometric analysis and radiation control
— analysis of spectra of roentgen fluorescence
— neutron spectra analysis
— metrological support of spectrometric analysis
— components for spectrometric equipment

Destructive analysis
— modern Russian and foreign nuclear emission spectrometers, nuclear absorption spectrometers, mass spectrometers, ultraviolet spectrometers, infrared spectrometers
— companies’ experience of use of mass spectrometric systems
— use of ICP mass spectrometers in nuclear technologies
— molecular spectroscopy
— system of thermal analysis of technological processes

Equipment and methods for detection and identification of hazardous matters
— equipment production methodology
— equipment for detection of hazardous matters
— experience of use of such equipment

Simultaneously with the seminar the key reporters are giving lectures on industrial spectrometry, roentgen fluorescence analysis and radioactivity control in treatment of radioactive waste.
