OREANDA-NEWS. On November 26, 2007 in Baku, the Council for Rail Transport of CIS States (CRT CIS) discussed a new international passenger timetable for 2008-2009 under the chairmanship of Vladimir Yakunin, president of Russian Railways, who opened the Council’s 47th session, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The participants of the session discussed the inclusion of the movement of passenger trains in the inter-governmental communication during the years 2008-2009.

In the new train timetable for 2008-2009, it is intended to introduce timetables for all passenger trains in the CIS countries. This is a total of 288 pairs of trains (6 more pairs compared to the 2006-2007 timetable) and 55 pairs using motorised wagons.

In addition, trailer and through coaches will operate on 391 routes (23 more routes compared to the 2006-2007 timetable).

On February 1, 2008 working groups from CIS railway administrations are due to complete the timetable, which will come into effect on May 25, 2008 at 0:00 Moscow time.
