OREANDA-NEWS. November 30. The port of Ventspils (Latvia) is likely to handle 30 million tonnes of cargo in 2007.

Initially experts forecasted transshipment of 29 million tonnes but in the 10-month period the port handled 25.992 million tonnes of cargo. However, deputy head of the port Yanis Vitolinsh said next year the port’s throughput may decrease because of competition with the port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) for transshipment of potassium salt.
