OREANDA-NEWS. On November 29, 2007 speaking about the development of competition in rail transport, managing director of First Freight Company Salman Babayev emphasised the need to correct various legal provisions and, together with Russian Railways, develop tariff conditions which enabled the cooperation of players on the market for transportation services, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

“The existence of the reduced tariff for such transportation is loss-making for Russian Railways,” said Babayev, “but it is profitable for operating companies. In our opinion, a solution has to be found which gives sufficient weight to the locomotive component in the tariff.”
