OREANDA-NEWS. December 3, 2007. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has ratified law on Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation.

The press service of the Kremlin reports that the law was adopted by the State Duma on Nov 13 2007 and approved by the Federation Council on Nov 23 2007.

Putin has also ratified amendments to some laws in connection with the adoption of the law on Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation.

The law on Rosatom state corporation is aimed at optimizing the work of the nuclear industry and consolidating its resources and financing it from the federal budget.

The law has been drafted on the instruction of President Putin and stipulates the reorganization of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy (Rosatom) into Rosatom State Corporation for Nuclear Energy. The Corporation will comprise Atomenergoprom OJSC, nuclear weapons complex, research institutes and nuclear and radiation safety agencies.

The objective of the Corporation is to unite state policy and management system in the field of use of nuclear energy, to ensure stable work of nuclear power and nuclear weapons producers, to guarantee nuclear and radiation safety and to create favorable conditions for stable work of the defense sector.
