OREANDA-NEWS. December 5, 2007. JSC Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant (Chelyabinsk region, ESTAR management company) plans to assign 40 mln rubles for environmental purposes in 2007, the company’s press service informed Interfax.

“Reconstruction and installation of gas- and dust-cleaning devices in 2006-2007 will allow reducing environmental emissions by more than 330 t. Construction of water drainage system from the vacuum oxygen refining unit was finished. The system will direct the waste industrial water into the recirculation cycle”, said the press service representative.

He added that in 2007 not more than 2% of the tests showed exceeded environmental safety standards.

“Beavers appeared at the Ay river that flows through the ZMP site and that, according to the environmentalists, witnesses a considerable decrease of industrial emissions”, noted the press service representative and reminded of the fact that the Plant assigned 40,624,000 rubles for environmental needs in 2005 and 47,392,000 rubles – in 2006.

Besides, he noted that the installation of new Electric Steel Making Shop No.4 (ESMS-4) began in the framework of the New Zlatoust Electrometallurgical Plant (NZEMP) construction and the unit will be equipped according to European environmental standards. Gas-cleaning units will be produced in Germany and Sweden.

Construction of ESMS-4 is the first stage of JSC ZMP reconstruction that is to be finished by 2009. The investment value of the entire plant reconstruction project is ?130 mln.
