OREANDA-NEWS.  On 4 December in Kazan Heinz Hermann Thiele – Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the German company Knorr-Bremse Systeme fьr Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH and Sergey Kogoghin – Director General of KAMAZ Inc. signed an agreement setting up a joint venture for the manufacture of complete truck braking systems in Naberezhnye Chelny.

According to the investment project of the JV, KNORR-BREMSE KAMA with equal shares of the parties in the authorized capital and the total area of 6000 square meters will be firstly located on the production areas of KAMAZ. In 2008 it will start producing drum brakes, and also disc brakes, torsional vibration dampers – on the new special-purpose equipment according to German techniques. The investments will make up EUR 25 million.

During 3 years its production areas will widen to 14 thousand square meters. In addition to that the nomenclature of the produced automotive components will broaden. Annual production volumes of each product amount to hundreds of thousands of units. Initially KAMAZ will be a core customer of the JV with 70% share of orders, but the enterprise will gradually push up sales on the Russian markets. The number of workers at KNORR-BREMSE KAMA will increase from 95 people in 2008 to 354 people in 2012.

The JV is supposed to start working in 2008. This is the third production in Naberezhnye Chelny created by KAMAZ together with the world’s leading automotive components producers. In 2005 there was established ZF KAMA Ltd., in 2006 – CUMMINS KAMA Ltd. In the experts’ opinion, this collaboration will be mutually beneficial: KAMAZ will obtain access to German techniques, and its German partner will get the stable outlet.
