OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2007. “Today, we are introducing new forms for managing the integration of science, industry and business. We are establishing corporations and holdings that will gear up the modernization of our key industries,” First Vice Premier of Russian Sergey Ivanov said during the awarding of the laureates of the government’s prize in Moscow on Friday.

He said that the Russian economy is already in the top ten in the world and this is just the beginning. "Growing budgetary revenues, high oil and gas prices, stable social-political situation are a good ground for a jump to a new level – towards innovative, socially-oriented, highly competitive economy – economy based on real scientific, educational and creative capacities," Ivanov said. He pointed out that today Russia’s policy in the field of technology and equipment is aimed at creating conditions for turning the country’s scientific-technical potential into a key source of stable economic growth.

"We already have such conditions: we are gradually increasing our budgetary assignations for science and education, improving conditions for protection of intellectual property, taking measures to create an innovative infrastructure for transfer of scientific achievements into production. We are actively developing our system of encouragement of scientists, particularly, by instituting annual government awards. Last year we had 200 participants: 50 of them won the award, each sevenths of the winners was a young scientist", Ivanov said.
