OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2007. In 2008 Mozyr Oil Refinery will put out a tender for the construction of a turn-key paraxylene production facility, reported the press-centre of Mozyr Oil Refinery.

According to the source, the company signed an agreement with Neftekhimproekt Co. (St. Petersburg) on developing an architectural design of the new production facility. The work should be done by May 2008. After that Mozyr Oil Refinery will calculate the construction cost and in summer will put out the render.

A license agreement on employing a relevant technology was concluded with the American company UOP Limited. It will also act as a developer of the engineering design of the new plant.

The launching of the paraxylene production facility is one of the most important projects of the programme on promoting inter-branch cooperation of Belneftekhim Concern. The capacity of the new facility will be about 120 thousand tonnes of paraxylene a year; the construction is planned to be finished by 2010. As soon as the concern carries out the project Mozyr and Novopolotsk oil refineries will be able to completely satisfy the needs of Mogilevkhimvolokno for its main feedstock – paraxylene.

Founded in 1975 Mozyr Oil Refinery was jointstockicized in 1994. Some 42,7% of its shares belong to the state, 42,6% - to Slavneft Oil and Gas Company and 14,7% - to other shareholders. The company performs as part of Belneftekhim Concern. In 2007 Mozyr Oil Refinery will process about 10,6 million tonnes of oil.
