OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2007. In January-November 2007, Kaliningrad Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 4.3 million tonnes of cargo (+20.8%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports. In the reported period, the port handled 3.2104 million tonnes of export cargo (+19.8%, year-on-year). Export of cast iron grew by 6.8% to 510,300 tonnes, heavy fuel oil – up 3.8 times to 426,700 tonnes, coal and coke – up 1.8 times to 453,700 tonnes, containerized cargo - +53.9% to 181,200 tonnes, scrap metal - +17.8% to 110,000 tonnes. Export of timber fell by 23.5% to 70,300 tonnes, packaged fertilizers – by 24.7% to 23,400 tonnes, ferrous alloys – by 15.1% to 223,800 tonnes, other cargo – 4.3 times (from 79,000 tonnes to 18,000 tonnes).

Transshipment of import cargo totaled 1.1327 million tonnes (+23.8%) including 633,800 tonnes of containerized cargo (up 1.9-fold), 50,400 tonnes of other cargo (+10.7%, year-on-year). Import of grain fell by 45.2% to 142,000 tonnes, metal goods –7-fold to 1,000 tonnes, fish and meat –2.8-fold (from 42,200 tonnes to 14,800 tonnes). Total container turnover of the company grew by 74.8% to 140,455 teus.
