OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2007. The presentation of a KAMAZ T-215 tractor took place in the President-hotel in Astana with success. Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., presented new production of the automobile plant to the members of the Kazakhstan government – Akhmetzhan Yesimov, Minister of Agriculture, and Galym Orazbakov, Minister of Industry and Trade.

KAMAZ T-215 is an obvious result of collaboration of KAMAZ Inc. and ARGO SPA holding (Italy) producing tractors at the plants Landini (Italy) and McCormick (England).

In June Sergey Kogoghin voiced the following figures: 200 tractors this year, 500 next year, and it’s planned to reach assembly of 4 thousand tractors a year by 2012. However these data presuppose a pessimistic variant of trade development. Market needs are rather high, and no less than 250 tractors will most probably be sold in 2007, and in 5 years KAMAZ will reach the level of 8 thousand tractors a year.

Iveco engines are installed on the first batch of tractors, but Cummins engines produced by the joint venture Cummins Kama will be fitted on tractors which will be produced in 2008. Secondly, there will be an obligatory localization of the cab. Its assembly, melding and painting will be carried out at KAMAZ. And in the third place, various small components: headlights, plastic interior and exterior parts, seats etc. will be home-produced. Suppliers of such parts now turn to the KAMAZ purchase department with their supply.

The market of tractors is new and rather specific for KAMAZ, and competition is very high here. However, KAMAZ with its resource is on firm ground. As Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., said, he doesn’t feel anxiety about competition with other producers of analogous equipment: “To date our first priority is not to produce and sell, but to ensure after-sales service. And KAMAZ has the most developed service network on the territory of Russia and the CIS where new tractors as well as all KAMAZ equipment will be provided with quality service”.

The general-purpose farm tractor KAMAZ T-215 is equipped with a QSB engine. Besides, a Power Management system is installed on the tractors. It makes it possible to sustain a constant running speed when operations requiring power take-off are performed. The latest 32-speed transmission XtraSpeed provides for the possibility of changing up to 8 gears under load.

The cab of the tractor has a broadened look-out angle. A seat fitted on an air suspension improves the comfort of working conditions. A digital dashboard provides exact information concerning work parameters of the tractor.
