OREANDA-NEWS. January 09, 2007. Memorandum of Cooperation between Donbass Fuel and Energy Corporation (Ukrainian abbreviation - DTEK) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was signed in the Donbass Palace Hotel in Donetsk. This document became the initial step in the partnership project Local Economic Development (LED), reported the press-centre of SCM.

According to the memorandum in the next year DTEK and USAID will as a part of the Local Economic Development programme provide expertise and consultancy to municipal councils of the cities where DTEK’s companies operate – Zugres, Kirovskoye, Pavlograd, Pershotravnevsk, Schastie, Ternovka.

The aim of the programme is to prepare strategic plans of local economic development, to increase capacity of local governance bodies and to improve investment climate.

DTEK Corporation takes active steps in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR). In 2007 DTEK signed protocol on intentions in the area of social partnership with the councils of all seven cities (in three oblasts of Ukraine) where its assets operate. Over UAH3 million have been provided for implementation of these projects. Over UAH30 million have been invested in modernization and reconstruction of boiling facilities and heating systems of Ternovka and Pershotravensk, where the mines of Pavlogradugol cola company operate.
