OREANDA-NEWS. January 09, 2007. The Ukrainian government program will have a provision, according to which special investment zones will be created on depressive territories, where exporter companies will not pay taxes during ten years. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko announced this during the debate on the government program, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

"In the territories with particular stagnation, we may form investment areas with their own customs system, where accredited businesses would be able to work with benefits, but in exports only. The domestic market will be fully taxed," she stated.

The question of investment zones was raised by Coal Industry Minister Viktor Poltavets during the debate on the government's program. He also proposed putting on the program the item of a state support for the training of mining experts. "It is necessary to envisage, among other things, restoration of the activity of miners training schools," he declared.

In its turn, the foreign affairs ministry proposed putting on the program the provision on humanitarian activity in external policy. "We would like supplementing the program with a humanitarian element of activity, including during the work with diaspora, and in universal acknowledgement of the Great Famine (Holodomor)," Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko said.
