OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2007. Alexander Onuchin, a dispatcher at JSC Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant (city of Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk region), which is a part of the managing company of the Electric Steel of Russia group, became world champion in powerlifting.

At the championship, which was held in Togliatti, the metallurgist from Zlatoust won the first place in Men’s Open category up to 56 kg, said to Ural-press-inform Inna Gladysheva, a spokesperson at JSC ZMP. During the championship Alexander Onuchin made a new record of Europe in deadlift having lifted 215.5 kg. More than 700 athletes participated in the competition. A trip to the prestigious championship was financed by the management of Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant.

There is a plethora of famous champions working at JSC ZMP today. Among them - “Uralochka - ZMP” water polo team, a reiterated winner in European and global tournaments, with key players of the team constituting the backbone of the national team. The volleyball team of the plant repeatedly became champion of the region.
