OREANDA-NEWS. On January 14, 2007 President Alexander Lukashenko issued Decree No. 20 on approving the state investment programme for the year 2008, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.

The document is based on the analysis of the current economic situation and proposals articulated by national government bodies and other institutions subordinate to the Government of the Republic of Belarus, by regional executive committees and Minsk municipal executive committee.

The programme will spend a total of Br 1,490.3 billion (this including the money allocated from the presidential reserve fund) on the construction of 568 new buildings in 2008, with 257 of them are to be commissioned in 2008.

Under the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On the Budget of the Republic of Belarus for the Year 2008”, Br 1,380.1 billion will be allocated from the national budget for the implementation of the programme.

Br 110,2 billion will be allocated from the presidential reserve fund to finance the multifield cultural and sports complex Minsk-Arena in 2008.

On the whole, the implementation of the Programme will make it possible to send in service such important social facilities as hostels of the Gomel State Medical University and Baranovichi State University, new premises for the Belarusian research institute of epidemiology and microbiology in Minsk, new facilities of the Vitebsk Biofactory, among others.

The Programme will continue the financing of restoration of the castle complexes in Mir and Nesvizh; the completion of the second stage of reconstruction of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre; a lyceum under the Gomel Engineering Institute of the Ministry for Emergencies; customs checkpoints Berestovitsa-2 in the Berestovitsa district, Bruzgi-2 in the Grodno district; state research institution “Central Botanical Gardens” in Minsk.

The funds of the national budget will be concentrated on financing important social facilities to be commissioned in 2008 and the facilities to be commissioned in the next years in line with relevant special programmes.
