OREANDA-NEWS. On January 17, 2007 Jet Infosystems, a leading system integrator in Russia and the CIS and Kabira Technologies, a leader in high performance transaction processing software, announced the successful deployment and implementation of a new Payment Processing System, the 'Beepay XP' based on KTP, Kabira Transaction PlaformTM at VimpelCom, operating under the 'Beeline' brand, reported the press-centre of Jet Infosystems.

Since 2001, VimpelCom has operated its ‘Beepay’ system, developed in-house by its own IT specialists, for processing subscriber payments. In order to fulfill its expansion strategy, it was mandatory to modernize the Beepay platform, and VimpelCom decided to rely on a modern infrastructure providing scalability, robustness and flexibility for the creation and management of real-time mobile payment products.

Vimpelcom selected Jet Infosystems for its experience and expertise of its teams in designing and developing similar types of systems. A contract for the development and implementation of the new payment processing system was signed end of 2005, and, on the 1st April 2006, the first transaction through the new 'Beepay XP’ system took place, using a mobile communication unified payment card.

The new ‘Beepay ’ system was developed on KTP, the Kabira Transaction Platform, designed by the American software vendor, Kabira Technologies. 'Beepay XP' benefits from the very high transaction throughput and availability of the 64-bit memory-resident Kabira Transaction PlatformTM to support several hundred of business transactions per second and scale beyond.
Since January, 2008 all the payments for VimpelCom services are processed via Beepay , new payment system. Today the system processes more than 6 million transactions per a day.

The new 'Beepay XP' platform supports payments through different channels (cash, ATM, credit cards, mobile device), cards management, a significant number of partner payment points, and multiple charging systems. It facilitates the launch of value-added payment services like the balance transfer.

Vladimir Filippov, Vice-President for Architecture and Development at VimpelCom commented: "Since the preceding ‘Beepay’ payment system had reached its technological limitations and could not further support growth in transactions and introduction of new services, we needed a new system. The aim of the project was the creation within VimpelCom of a payment plan that was advanced and modern in terms of the corporate architecture. The project has produced just such a system, which not only easily deals with the increasing number of transactions conducted, but also provides a new functional approach. Thanks to this, we have acquired an extra competitive advantage in our business activity. A major contribution to the success of the project was the support provided by our IT partner Jet Infosystems”.

“In developing the new ’Beepay ’ payment system, we looked, firstly at the commercial approach of the customer. The application of progressive IT approaches has allowed VimpelCom to provide subscribers with a high level of service and continuously to broaden the list of services offered, which demonstrates the high potential of the company within the market." said Andrei Samoilov, Director of Customer Services at Jet Infosystems "We are grateful to VimpelCom for the confidence they have placed in us and for providing the opportunity to implement this challenging and important project. Participation in this project has expanded the expertise of our specialists”.

"Our Kabira Transaction Processing platform is a proven platform that offers the complete guarantees in terms of carrier-grade level of performance, scalability and robustness. Our KTP platform offers extraordinary scaling performances and should therefore secure the quality of service requested by VimpelCom to meet its business objectives." said Jean-Bernard Guyonnaud, Vice President Sales EMEAR. "We are really pleased with our partnership with Jet Infosystems and with this first implementation of the Kabira Transaction Platform in Russia, that this project additionally brings to the excellent track record of KTP implementations at Tier One operators and corporate organizations in Financial Services worldwide."
