OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2007. Rostekhnadzor has put into effect sample program of target inspection of radioactive matters and waste control system at organizations treating radioactive matters and waste

The head of the Federal Service for Ecological, technological and Nuclear Control (Rostekhnadzor) Konstantin Pulikovsky has decreed to put into effect a sample program of target inspection of radioactive matters and waste control system at organizations treating radioactive matters and waste. The document is designed for the inspectors of Rostekhnadzor’s central and regional nuclear and radiation safety offices.

The program specifies the key directions and the key objects of a target inspection of radioactive matters and waste control system:

— registration and de-registration of radioactive matters and radioactive waste;

— inventory of radioactive matters and radioactive waste;

— training of personnel for control of radioactive matters and waste.

A target inspection can be carried out both at the level of an organization treating radioactive matters and radioactive waste and at the level of a division of that organization.

The document is the basis for the programs of individual target inspections.

Each target inspection should have a program and a schedule. The measures specified in the program and the methods of their implementation should comply with the radiation safety and information protection requirements.

The findings of inspectors should be specified in an act or a protocol – in case of detected violations.

During a target inspection the inspectors should comply with relevant laws and standards.
