OREANDA-NEWS. January, 2008. President Robert Kocharian received the delegation of the participants of the Armenian-Russian economic forum, which is convened in Yerevan at the initiative of the Union of the Armenians of Russia.

Robert Kocharian welcomed the idea of organizing the forum, and noted that the economic relations have become the locomotive of the Armenian-Russian relations. As a result, Russian financial capitals are present in many branches of the Armenian economy and it is expected that that presence will increase even more.

The President inquired about the work of the forum and conversed with the guests about their thoughts and projects regarding the development of the Armenian-Russian business relations.

The Russian businessmen said that they see opportunities for creating in Armenia new joint ventures and that shortly the precise projects would be determined. The parties spoke also about possibilities of the new programs being implemented based on the potential existing between the Armenian enterprises and the Russian economy in the Soviet times.

The businessmen expressed their gratitude to President Kocharian for his consistent efforts to re-establish and develop the Armenian-Russian economic relations, and noted that these efforts in addition to already noticeable results have created good preconditions for the implementation of the larger and promising projects.
