OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2008. A large industrial center is developed in the eastern region of Turkmenistan. A gas processing plant with the annual estimated capacity of one billion cubic meters of tank gas, 50,000 tons of liquefied gas and 200,000 tons of condensate is under construction on the Yashildepe field. The unique complex supplied with up-to-date equipment and modern technologies includes over 40 technological and engineering facilities. The project amounted to $42 million is implemented by the Termodesign Engineering Ltd Company (Canada) in collaboration with Turkmen specialists.

A major part of the construction works has been completed at the plant. The technological processes will be computer-aided and automated. The Canadian specialists assembled the technological units for treating, desulfurizing and processing natural gas, the engineering lines system and started the start-and-adjustment works.

The transport and engineering infrastructure is developed. The specialists of the Lebapnebitgazgurlushik Trust completed site welding, laid the 55.7- kilometer high pressure gas pipeline and the 61-kilometer liquefied fuel pipeline. Thus, the export products of the complex will be delivered across the Amu Darya River to Pelvert, where a new liquefied gas terminal with the capacity of 3,000 tons is under construction. Hydrocarbon condensate will be supplied to the Pelvert oil-loading terminal and then railed to the Seydi oil refinery to be refined into light oil products, which are of great demand on world market.

Developing the abundant hydrocarbon resources on the right bank of the Amu Darya River is a priority of the national fuel and energy sector development strategy. The region is known well not only for the high-output gas processing plants but also the Turkmenistan-China export gas pipeline that starts in the Samandepe gas deposit.

The large-scale project is implemented in collaboration with Chinese partners, China National Petroleum and Gas Corporation under the General Agreement concluded by the governments of the two countries. The prospecting work conducted in the region for many years and then the experts confirmed that the total ‘blue fuel’ reservoir volume hidden in the depth of the right bank of the Amu Darya River is estimated at 1.3 billion cubic meters.

Meanwhile the oil-rich west of Turkmenistan works for the gas export status the gas-rich east where proves its oil potential with every passing year. The Yashildepe deposit is considered to be highly prospective. The Lebap oil industry workers started to extract oil in the region three years ago and have already extracted almost 1.4 million tons. The oil refining facilities, reservoirs and oil-gathering station were constructed, oil wells were developed and the 80-km Yashildepe-Pelvert oil pipeline was built there on a tight timetable.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov visited the Lebap Velayat recently and set the new tasks to Turkmenoil industry workers: to double oil production in the region. The local specialists carry on the activity in the region to fulfill these tasks.

One more important step towards intensifying hydrocarbon production on the right bank of the Amu Darya River is to increase the scope of prospect and production drilling. The investment project amounted to over US$ 42 million is aimed at developing the deposits in the Yashildepe field.

Through consistently implementing the Turkmen leader’s economic development strategy the abundant hydrocarbon resources of the Yashildepe field and deposits on the right bank of the Amu Darya River will be placed at the service of the Turkmen people, guaranteeing the welfare and prosperity to independent neutral Turkmenistan in a few years.
