OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2008. Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (RTS: NMTP, MICEX: NMTP, LSE: NCSP) announces the completion of berth reconstruction and dredging of the container terminal of Novoroslesexport (NCSP’s subsidiary), the company’s press center reports. As a result of the reconstruction works, the port can now accommodate unloading and loading of Panamax class containerships with the capacity up to 5,000 TEU. The high intensity of the reloading works (70 moves per hour in total) is provided by two installed STS container reloaders.

The first ship to arrive at the reconstructed berth was the containership “Jean Pieerre A” with a capacity of 1,500 TEU, belonging to the Turkish company “EMES.” Previously the technical characteristics of Novoroslesexport’s berths allowed the company to accommodate containerships with the capacity of maximum 500 TEU.

Reconstruction and modernization of Novoroslesexport container terminal for the unloading and loading of containerships with the capacity of up to 5,000 TEU is a part of the investment program of NCSP which is based on the development and capacity growth with a focus on highly profitable cargo.
