OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2007. The document legalizes decision announced by the European institutions before and represents new approach to trade-economic relations between the Republic of Moldova and EU, reported the press-centre of InvestPrivatBank.

The new trade regime provides free access to EU market duties and quotas free to the goods produced in Moldova, except for the limited number of agricultural products, which import can negatively affect EU market.

According to the decision of EU Board of Ministers, the autonomous trade preferences regime will be temporarily suspended in case of serious and persistent violations of the terms of this regime, abuses or refusal from administrative cooperation in the field of inspection of origin of goods, as well as if Moldova will not take further measures to implement the priorities of the plan of actions of European Neighbourhood Policy- 2005 and international agreements signed before.

However, Moldova should not impose new customs regulations, fees, new quantitative restrictions relating to import from EU since the date of validation of this document. The Regulation on providing autonomous trade preferences to Moldova will come into force on the seventh day after the date of publication in the Official journal of EU and will be applied on the first day of the second month after its entry into force till December 31, 2012. Thus, application of corresponding regulation will be possible since March 2008.
