OREANDA-NEWS. On 25 January 2008 Transneft announced, that works at the Yakutsk ESPO (East Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline) division are being executed in full accordance with the environmental protection legislation. The fact was reported by Ms. Inna Goncharuk, deputy chief for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) territorial administration of technical and ecological control.

Ms. Goncharuk notes that the environmental protection legislation issue at the ESPO construction sites has exceeded expectations of Yakutsk Rostekhnadzor specialists. The construction sites at the contractors’ divisions are equipped with the sewerage systems and the waste treatment plants, contracts for the solid waste disposal services are executed. Last spring the local Lensk environmental protection inspection has made a note of the full conformity of the contractors’ activity with the legislation.

ESPO construction environmental safety is under the intent surveillance in Yakutia. Ecological tracking has been started on the project stage and the Neryungrinsk environmental protection inspection actively participates in the construction ecological control from the first days of the project execution. From spring 2007 under the State assembly (Il Tumen) a standing commission has been dealing with the ecological aspects of the project. Moreover the “Republican information and analysis center for the ecological monitoring” established under the Rebublic’s Environmental Protection Ministry has been controlling the ESPO construction process from the beginning of the year, reported by SakhaNews.
