OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2007. As informed the Ministry of Economy and Trade, this agreement will be signed within the framework of the official visit of the Minister Igor Dodon to Cyprus on January 28-30.

According to MET, at the moment Moldova and Cyprus signed 7 intergovernmental agreements. The last agreement between the governments of Cyprus and Moldova on promotion and bilateral protection of investments was signed in Chisinau in September 2007.

In the first half of 2007, the volume of foreign trade between Moldova and Cyprus amounted to 830,6 thousand dollars or 2,5 times more than at the same period of 2006. Trade with Cyprus represents 3,8% of the total trade of Moldova registered in the first half of 2007.

In I half of 2007, export to Cyprus amounted to 49,3 thousand dollars, increasing 1,4 times as compared to the same period of 2006. Moldova mostly exported: sparkling wines for 42 thousand U.S. and quiet wines for 7,3 thousand dollars.

At the same time, Moldovan import from Cyprus amounted to 781,3 thousand dollars, or 2,6 times more than at the same period of 2006. In the first half of last year, Moldovan import from Cyprus included: medicines for 550,8 thousand dollars, citruses for 186,7 thousand U.S., tubes, hoses and pipes, as well as auxiliary plastic devices for 29,3 thousand dollars.
