OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2007. The new head office building of DnB NORD Banka is going to be one of the most technologically developed and most state-of-the-art buildings in Riga, combining both the high-quality architecture and energy-efficient office traits, reported the press-centre of DnB NORD Banka.

The Chairman of the Management Board of DnB NORD Banka Andris Ozolins explains: "When we announced the tender for the best DnB NORD Banka head office building project the most important criteria outlined by the Bank were updated, technologically advanced and functional solutions, good architecture, spacious premises for the staff and customers as well as, of course, the location in a promising neighborhood of the city.

I am satisfied that the chosen project of the new head office building complies with all the above requirements, at the same time contributing to the overall development of the vicinity of Skanstes Street - the new building of DnB NORD Banka will be located in the strategically prime location of the new block, and therefore its design will serve as a kind of benchmark for the remaining buildings."

Over the last years the Bank has been through drastic development resulting in both good financial performance and replenishment of the team with young and professional specialists. Taking into account the above we started to work on selection of the location for the new head office building and the project development.

The eleven-storey building will be situated in 12 Skanstes Street, and its total space will amount to approximately 16,500 square meters. In the underground parking lot are planned the parking spaces both for the Bank customers and the staff. The total project costs are expected in amount of EUR 28,5 million.

The project of the building provides the work space for at least 840 employees; thus, the whole central administration of DnB NORD Banka will have a chance to work together in a single place.

As the project developer and building company is chosen be SIA "Merks", and as the architect – the office of Audrius Ambrasas, widely acknowledged among the professionals both in Lithuania and Latvia.

"Construction of the new head office building of DnB NORD Banka is the best positive statement that attests to the prospective of the building industry. Good location, well-arranged environment, modern infrastructure as well as modern architecture and qualitative performance of the builders are the preconditions that allow secure planning and development of the projects even in the context of the current market forecasts. "Merks" building company started to promote the idea of developing the vicinity of Skanstes Street four years ago, and our initial ambitious plan to establish in the location the new center of the city remains unchanged," states the Chairman of the Board of the building company "Merks" Ivars Geidans.

To construction and equipment of the building will be applied the newest technologies, thus ensuring the maximum energy-efficiency. It is expected to install the building management system BMS that will allow flexible and centralized regulation and control over the interior temperature, security systems, lighting etc.

On the other hand, to ensure the best climate for the work will be constructed closed facade system; it is planned to install special air-moisturizing, airing, and cooling systems. The building will also be provided with external automatic Venetian blinds.
