OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2007. In 2007, Belarus boosted the export of construction materials to the Kaliningrad oblast of the Russian Federation significantly. In January-November last year, Belarus doubled the supplies of cement, ceramics, glass, stones and other materials on the same period 2006, BelTA learnt from Vladimir Zalomai, the head of the Kaliningrad office of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.

Over the eleven months 2007, the export of the Belarusian construction materials to the Kaliningrad oblast made up $41.4 million (in January-November 2006 – around $20 million).

Belarusian companies rendered substantial assistance the Kaliningrad region in industrial and housing construction. For instance, OAO Promtechmontazh built the first stage of a production facility of the Kaliningrad-based ZAO Sodruzhestvo-Soya, built a plant to produce granulated fertilizers.

Moreover, the Gomel-based house building factory constructed 4.6 thousand square meters of housing in the Kaliningrad oblast. In line with the signed protocol, in 2008-2010, Gomel specialists will construct 25 thousand square meters of housing in the Russian region.

In January-November 2007, the trade between Belarus and the Kaliningrad oblast hit $137 million, or 7.9% up on the same period 2006. Belarus exported goods at the amount of $82 million. This country posted a surplus in trade with that region of the Russian Federation to the tune of $27 million.
